One's Resilience

September 23, 2025

How much can we endure? How resilient are we?

The question is different from what you may have thought. You may have believed it depends on great powers, politics, and war. Not at all. It depends only on your ability to be resilient.

The answer comes from our largest research study to date, which we prepared in cooperation with the agency SC&C. We also placed the results in an international comparison with Slovakia, Germany, and Sweden.

At the Odolnost Jedince (Individual Resilience) conference, we introduced for the first time the Resilience Index – eight dimensions that show where we stand: physical activity, skills, mental health, cohesion, material security, adaptability, values, and trust in institutions.

The results and their implications were discussed by Anna Shavit, Jana Hamanová, Miroslav Singer, Miroslav Bárta, Petra Buzková, Olga Chabr Grillová, Andrea Daňková, Pavel Kolář, David Shorf, Jakub Landovský, Helena Sováková, General Hofírek, Tomáš Šebek, and Milan Mikulecký.
